Getting There, But Why Not Go For It?
on 5 October 2001
This is a step up from their previous studio album, Destiny Road. That superb rhythm section, as tight as it can get after a heavy touring schedule, really nails some excellent songs. Peter's voice is sounding much more assured now and the guitar filigree (but is it Peter or Nigel?) is, well, good. Peter's only composition, sensitively titled 'Underway', doesn't make you tingle but I'm sure things will develop.
Now all they have to do is get rid of all that splangling Fender gear, replace it with Les Pauls and Marshalls, push the levels up a tad and this will the be the smokiest band in years, giving the legions of lifetime supporters out here that 'oh my God' feeling again.
