Hear'Say had a mountain to climb when trying to follow up the huge selling 'Pure & Simple', and on first hearing 'The Way To Your Love', you begin to wonder whether Hear'Say will experience that level of success again. Even though this song did reach No.1 on the UK Singles Chart, it's performance is poor in contrast to that of 'Pure & Simple'. Sounding at first like a bland Britney/Backstreet Boys style ballad, the song bears a startling resemblance to 'That's The Way It Is' by Celine Dion. However, the song does grow on you and is undoubtedly more mature and sophisticated than the rather basic 'Pure & Simple' and will have a lasting appeal. The only downfall of this song is the lack of excitement... it's not the kind of song you can dance to, and if Hear'Say wish to experience the same levels of success as Steps and S Club 7 then excitement is what they need. Maturity never helped pop bands, look what happened to the Spice Girls, Eternal, Boyzone...
