A great release highlighting a comparatively forgotten area of Robert Wyatt's career. After leaving the Soft Machine many thought that Wyatt would move in a less Avant-garde direction, but instead Matching Mole (from a pun on the french for Soft Machine) carried on the path which the Soft were fast leaving behind. This album, compiled from live performances across europe in 1972, captures some intense, focused improvisation. Although some of the sound is slightly flat this is an impressive album which does a great honor to the minute Matching Mole discography.
