So Slinky rounds up some of the bigger tunes (in Slinky's opinion) from the last five double CD collections, adds a couple of new tracks.
Technation's Sea Of Blue from InterContinental is the anthemic opener, given a little more length and buildup before Kelly Jones' silky smooth vocal kicks in. Lightforce Join Me hails from Planet Moscow, but it's slightly extended with its three-note hook and sparse lyrics and piano. Tukan's Light a Rainbow is a different mix than before, and given the same treatment as Technation, with a whole verse of instrumental before the uncredited female singer's appearance. The vocals disappear for Soundscape's Supernova, with a haunting six-note melody that builds to a five-note high, keeping a sparse bassline in the background for the length of the track. Nick Barnes flexes his crossfading muscles as Supernova slides effortlessly into Kayestone's Party Til The Break Of Dawn, the first of the hard house pretenders with aggressive synth bassline. Next up is Beat Renegades with Automatik, which begins to blow the roof off with its coarse-as-sandpaper bassline and eight note hook. Bona fide Hard House veteran Lisa Pin-Up zooms in to get the bass and horn pumping with Turn Up The Sound, though it's not the hardest hard house has ever gone-only the hardest core fans can say if this evolution's good for that scene, but Slinky's diversion from trance is certainly a sign they're watching it. 4Motions' It's Over For Me peaks the disc at the centre with its highly amusing chant, and it's not much softer than Lisa Pin-Up.
If this were a standard Slinky Compilation you'd have switched discs. But since it's a single, tracks 9 to 14 represent the deep to hard trance you expect from Slinky and more great crossfading. From here every time I thought I'd heard the best track, another one took its place as Nick Barnes lifts you higher and higher, Big Cheese Richard Carr showing he knows how to put a compilation together, not just write the introduction pages. That's why Reverance's Sacrifice begins the second direction with a driving 2/2 six note bassline that fades into killer strings-sadly no strobe UV light if you're at home or on the move. It fades as quickly as it exploded into Queeker's Instream which continues the unrelenting pace, co-written by Slinky DJ Tim Lyall- so quite wisely the management are keeping this synthesized stonker to themselves! Next up Nexus' Oblivion adds strings as beautiful as Suntribe's Elise from Superclub DJs, the vocals don't intrude on the great driving trance in the background- it's so great it's got two names, is it Oblique like in the credits Or Oblivion as on the box? Whatever it's called it's great.
While hard house evolves, the customary five or ten-year anniversaries of classic dance hits are also a tradition. Dale and Cassar realise this, and their Matthew16 (2001 Mix) celebrates French Kiss by Lil' Louis. The bouncy and funky chords also have overtones of pioneers Dream Frequency all wrapped into a more modern spin. It's back to that deep trance for Red's Digital Daydream, with a split ten-note hook and a driving bassline, getting you ready for Starchild's Redemption, a teasing track that builds and builds and builds, kill-switching the bassline until the last moment before tearing loose with the effects-triggered rewind and breakdown- Remixers the KlubdoctorZ also chuck in a few effects common to Warrior's Warrior. No beauty, just beats and it's terrific. It ends with BassTone's Phatt Move, another track from InterContinental charting the progression of Hard House.
And then that's it, the package is rounded off rather than giving you more like a double-decker Slinky compilation would. The best tracks are the toe-tapper/floorfiller with two names- Nexus' Oblique or Oblivion- and StarChild's Redemption as operated on by KlubDoctorZ. If you're new to Slinky collections, GET THIS NOW, it's a good showcase of their more recent output. If you're a diehard fan you'll have it already, so if you've been a Slinky Kid since the first collection, four repeats will be a disappointment....

My son introduced me to the Slinky CDs when they were first produced. I decided I wanted a copy of my own to play in the car..........LOUDLY! Brilliant.
Also I appreciated that it was delivered promptly.

After dabbling with all sorts of different labels recently Global Underground (on which the James Lavelle albums and new Danny Howells one are masterful). I returned to Slinky forsome uplifting trance and was not disappointed with this class production!! Prime example Lightforce Track 2!!
Quality trance from start to finish (although not all of the highest order it maintains its momento very well)- and with some very uplifting beats the ideal companion for the gym to get u going.
This is Slinky at its finest.
