Beheaded were formed back in 1991, with the sole intention of being one blistering death/grind metal band. Set in Malta, the quintet was founded by Chris Brincat (drums) and David Bugeja (guitars). May of 1995 saw the release of their first demo entitled ‘Souldead’ consisting of four songs of intense and melodic death/grind metal. The demo was limited to a mere 500 copies and has therefore since become quite a collectors item.
Next the band released their debut full length album ‘Perpetual Mockery’. 'Souldead' from the demo and 'Vae Victus', a song recorded for a Maltese CD compilation, are featured, along with another 8 new compositions. The new songs have better structure than appeared on their earlier demo and clearly outline the band's musical improvement as musicians. The album, originally scheduled for a mid '97 release, was severely delayed due to a large list of problems that arose both from the band's side and from the label, putting the final release date in 1998. Professionally recorded at Temple Studios, Malta, between the 1st and 21st July of 1996, the album started to attract positive comments since the first promo copies were distributed.
The tracklisting is as follows:
1. Transcendental Iniquity
2. Perpetual Mockery
3. Inborn Lust
4. Subconscious Deliverance
5. Void Of Empathy
6. Ethereal Passages
7. Vae Victus [Prayer For The Vanquished]
8. Omnipotent Carnage
9. Souldead
10. Suffer In Silence
The album delivers ten tracks of brutal death/grind that are well crafted and display a high level of technical ability along with a creative songwriting nature. Since ‘Perpetual Mockery’ the band have released the 1999 album ‘Resurgence Of Oblivion’ and the 2002 album ‘Recounts Of Disembodiment’.

Perfect melodic Death Metal from the Maltese Deathmongers. Sound is just right, and lyrics are fascinating. The music is perfect for all the fans of this underground scene. Bone-crunching drum beats, spine-trickling guitar solos and the goriest lyrics are all in this brilliant album. For Beheaded's debut album, this is a must-buy!!
