Don't Do it all over again.
on 3 May 2015
I am a Caravan fan but for me the best and only consistently brilliant album is Grey and Pink. This album does not have the coherence of Grey and Pink - it doesn't hang together so well and it doesn't provide a consistently enjoyable listening experience.
First track (title track) sets a good standard and is probably the most "poppy" track but I find that it does not bear repeated listening. Second track (And I wish I were stoned) is quite interesting but not outstanding. Other tracks are either meandering and wistful (with barely audible lyrics) or extended instrumental jazz-rock or prog-rock work-outs/improvisations. However, there is the absolutely amazing and incredible Hello Hello which I could listen to from morn till night in any different version, I just love it so much. It offers some respite/redemption.
So I'm afraid for me this is a flawed album apart from a few gems. I think if they could "do it all over again" they might do it a bit differently.
