Came to this late after watching the documentary "Bright Lights" chronicling the relationship between daughter Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds. It was interesting seeing Dennis Quaid as the love interest -- now that we know Fisher had a relationship with Harrison Ford, it does rather seem Quaid may have been cast with Harrison in mind and offers some insight into his smooth talking persona. Streep and MacLaine play wonderfully off each other while Streep makes it all look effortless as usual. Looking forward to reading the book next!

I do not know how much of this film is fact or poetic licence but Meryl Streep and Shirley Maclaine are excellent and it is mirthful and moving in equal measures. I am a huge believer in fate and karma and found it deeply touching that Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher had such a wonderful bond before Carries untimely death and that within days Debbie would die to be with her precious daughter- death is hardest on those left behind. A wonderful film and deserves 5 stars.

NOT SURE WHETHER IT THINKS ITS OK OR I don't like it. Bought on impulse when Carrie Fisher died but found it confusing - the dvd does not match the plot for the book. Sorry Carrie.

Everyone should watch this film, it's Carrie Fisher at her funniest and most touching. Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine aren't half bad either!

Love this film, worth rewatching. Two great performances from MacLaine and Streep. Carrie Fisher deserved an Oscar nomination for the screenplay.
