Instrumentals and vocals, English and Portugese, solo piano and orchestral arrangements - this album has something for everyone. Jobim's piano and voice are beautifully complemented by Claus Ogerman's subtle arrangements. Highlights include the much overlooked "Voce vai ver" (with Jobim's daughter Ana), a wonderful shuffle version of "Someone to Light up my Life", and perhaps the best of all, Jobim singing the Gene Lees lyrics to "Desafinado". I bought this album about 6 months ago, and have played it to death! Superb stuff!
This album seems endless! It's packed with Jobim songs, some you may have heard before and some that are probably new. About half are sung and the rest instrumental. With so many tracks here you're bound to find something new and interesting to listen to. Perfect for conjuring up the spirit of Brazil on a Summer's evening!
