Virtually every album Pan Sonic made could serve as an alternative soundtrack to 'Eraserhead' - this is, obviously, a very good thing; this album is even more Lynchian in its own twisted little way. Lynchian, that is, if you can picture a Lynch movie wherein Suicide and Throbbing Gristle deliver a good drubbing to Aphex Twin.
The wonderful thing about Pan Sonic is the way they make electronica human - you'll find no pristine, perfect computer-controlled music here - instead dirty great machines grind and toil away, bass noises echo up from the depths and a variety of tones and drones slowly worm their way into your brain. Pan Sonic invented a whole new form of music - Steam-Punk techno, perhaps?
Most of the tracks sound as if something ominous is permanently on the verge of happening - 'Reuna-Alue' glides slowly through great caverns of ice for 9 minutes plus, 'Liuos' takes a motorik trip down Krautrock autobahn and 'Kierto' starts out all martial rhythm before being subsumed in noise. Which is just the way I like it.

Perfectly controlled improvisations, creeping drones and rhythms, techno dragged screaming back to its Industrial heritage. Genius.
