Attractive music, beautifully sung by Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, Nicolai Gedda and Erich Kunz, but it has to be said that - as operettas - they are not in the same class as Strauss's two most famous ones (Die Fledermaus and Der Zigeunerbaron).
I felt that Eine Nacht in Venidig was little more than its most famous songs, but I do have to say that the famous "Komm in die Gondel" is wonderfully sung by the young Gedda.
Viener Blut was not composed as an operetta by Strauss, but is a compilation of his other music put together by a friend - nice music, but nothing more than that. If you are a Strauss "completist", you won't find the works better sung than by these outstanding artists.
The sound quality is good.
