I ordered this album after hearing a couple of Hexstatic tracks on the Coldcut Solid Steel radio show, and I wasn't disappointed. Some of the tracks use samples from Speak'n'Spell, old arcade games, TV and movies. Deadly Media is a track made up using samples of human speech as instruments, which is pretty clever when you think about it. The second CD allows you to watch videos and remix the tracks yourself, presented via a "Battlezone" interface! It's worth the money just for that!

I discovered Hexstatic via the excellent Solid Steel collaboration album, and decided to investigate further. At the time, rewind was the only album they had released, and it's a belter.

This is true innovation, without being difficult to listen to. There really isn't a bad track on here, and there is the bonus of videos for many of the tracks on the accompanying CD-ROM. There is real genius at work here - taking samples from films, video games and everyday life and blending them into tunes that you just want to listen to again and again. Having grown up in the 70's and 80's, there are some very nostalgic elements here too.

Even my kids love tracks from this album - Ninja Tune being a particular favourite, even though they were only four and five years old when they first heard it.

If you're only going to be adventurous once this year, take the plunge with this album. It's well worth it.

Personally speaking, one track is good, but the rest is a bit iffy. I cant remember why i brought it.
