The album sets off with the Arthur Baker produced dance/pop single "I can see clearly" . Then Debbie's variation takes the overhand , the funny dance/rap track "Stability" The beautiful ballads "Strike me pink" and "Moodring". "Lip Service" makes you hot for the dancefloor (ought to be a huge club hit). Later on the album Debbie makes you headbanging on the power pop "Standing in my way". Chris Stein (Blondie's frontman) is doing a real great job with the production of "Rain","Dancing down the moon", "The fugitive" and the masterpiece "Dog Star Girl" Debravation invites you to the wide range of variety to which Debbie stands for! Remëmber sweet Blondie hits like "Sunday Girl" the disco on "Heart of Glass" and on the other hand the edgy punk of "Hanging on the telephone" ? Deborah Harry, The Gueen Of Punk, never falls in cliché's !!
The thing with Debbie Harry, is that her solo music still sounds like Bondie. All her albums are eclectic (as are Blondie's) and this is no exception! Really enjoyable, and filled a gap until Blondie re-formed. This album contains some great pop tracks, the very Madonna-ish 'Communion', the fast paced dance track 'Lip Service', gorgeous ballad 'Strike Me Pink', and the very Blondie sounding rock/pop tunes such as 'Standing In My Way / The Fugitive / and Dancing Down The Moon'. Really enjoyable and a good buy
I had this album on tape when it was first released, after Blondie broke up. I wasn't sure how Debbie would sound on her own, but I really liked it. Her voice has always been fantastic, and that's no different on this release. I'm glad to have it now on CD.
