This is the album where I think Capercaillie really hit their stride. Delerium, coming in 1991, provided their breakthrough and is an excellent release, as is Get Out, a mini album of live and studio tracks coming in 1992. Secret People continues the development of their artistic voice, presenting the group's musical heriitage in a most mature and modern form. Among the tracks is "Miracle Of Being", one of their greatest moments.
Second hand copies often turn up on Amazon at bargain prices - you can't go wrong.
I have most of Capercaillie's CDs recorded over the last 30 yrs and this is my favourite. The great selection of songs-in Gaelic and English-from Scotland's finest trad/contemporary folk singer coupled with top notch instrumental accompaniment and tune medleys make this recording hard to better, either by them or other more recent artists. However lovers of Scottish folk music are now well and truly spoilt for choice. This band have done wonders for their heritage, both nationally and internationally,in a similar way to the Chieftains in Eire.
