Hailing from 1962 comes this dreamily romantic Bossa Nova gem courtesy of the seriously underrated composer, singer and guitarist Luiz Bonfa. The album is a collection of attractive songs and instrumental pieces focused primarily on Bonfa's breathy vocals and understated melodic jazzy -come classical guitar style.Melody and mood is what this set is all about. Great playing abounds everywhere on this album, but the magic of the music comes with the feeling with which it is performed and the delicate low-key arrangements that augment so aptly what are already lovely songs. Some tracks like 'Ilha De Coral' and the beautiful 'Adeus' have orchestral arrangements courtesy of Lalo Shifrin, others rely on Bonfa doing his stuff 'Queba Mar' as a more or less solo performer. Either way there are a slew of classic tracks to be heard here , not least 'Manha De Carnaval', 'Samba De Duas Notas' and 'Bossa Nova Cha Cha'.

Highly recommended to fans of light romantic swinging music.

In 1962 Luiz Bonfa recorded this wonderful album featuring the evergreen classic A day In the life of a fool(as it was called in the english translation). This sublime collection of Brazillian music is both low key and sensuous in the true manner of the 60`s Bossa Nova movement which is currently enjoying a revival with the cocktail drinking, lounge core hipsters. They truly don`t write them like this any more. This album sounds just right ! Go buy it and slip into the cool and groovy world of Luiz Bonfa.
