There are six of these albums which give the listener a flavour of what goes on in the studio and how the songs are constructed. Buy them all, you'll be fascinated!

Well... The thing is for die hard Elvis fans, this album is a must to hear alternate versions in a great sound improvement. For general people, this is a must to discover Elvis vocal abilities and hear new songs; not like classical Love me Tender etc. The album art is fantastic by the way. This album should be awarded as platinum maybe in a short time it does.

Outtakes, most notably from the sublime Elvis is Back. So we'll deal with them an album at a time.
Of the Elvis Is Back collection, "Make Me Know It" stands out for its muddied (but great) backing, that bears little relation to the original. Obviously everything from Elvis Is Back is brilliant (if you don't own that album, why, I'll lend you the cash!!!!) but the version of "Soldier Boy" may actually be better than the version from the album.
The "Something For Everyone" album was like an anaemic shadow of "Elvis Of Back", and the outtakes say little about what really happened, Despite this, in an Elvis-less world, they're still great to listen to. In particular the wailing that was edited out of "Give Me The Right". The slightly rawer "I'm Coming Home" is also a highlight, as it was on the original album.
It finishes off with the "For The Asking" sessions. All great stuff, but it does leave you wondering where the Elvis that delivered "Reconsider Baby" went. After saying this, the slightly stronger backing to the wonderful "It Hurts Me" is enough to make this great value for money for this Elvis fan.

This was the first Elvis album of outtakes that i bought and i really didn't think i would play it much.
Well i was wrong!! It is one of my most played Elvis albums and the start of my collection of Elvis outtake material.
What you get here is the outtakes from recording sessions between 1960 and 1964 in the now very famous RCA Studio "B" in Nashville.
It is a delight to listen to these takes, the false starts, background chatter and basically to listen to the King at work.
This album also includes one of my all time favourite Elvis tracks- Memphis Tennessee, in fact the version on this album,in my opinion is the best version of this song that he did, it's fantastic.

Just wanted to add up & agree that sound on this cd is excellent!
These are all great outtakes, if you like to hear man at work, and his
60's recordings have never sounded better. Design of this cd is great too,
I appreciate rare Elvis photo on Harley Davison inside the package.

I would recomend all cd's in great 'Essential Elvis' series, for fans &
collectors.

This is the best of the Essential Elvis releases. It contains outtakeswhich are good fun but the music really does speak for itself.
Recorded after his stint in the army, you can hear the relief in his voiceas he is getting back to what he does best.
Contains many great tracks but the stand outs are Such a Night (which ismagnificent and should have been a huge hit), Girl of My Best Friend, Manin the Sky and Little Sister.
The musicians and enjoying it as much as Elvis and the whole thing is justa joy to listen to.
The sound quality on this CD is second to none.
I would highly recommend this. Buy it today!

This cd has an amazing sound quality (probaly the best I heart so far). The music and the voice are crisp and clear. And the outtakes are great, you get to hear the man at work. It gives you the feeling that you're part of the process. And as a big Elvis fan that is great feeling. If you like this kind of cd's you should certainly try the cd box Today, Tomorrow and Forever.
