The Lorrys, as they preferred to be known were around quite a while in the early & mid 80's.

Arguable whether they were Goth, Industrial, both or neither.

Doesn't strictly matter-they were one band you could boogie to, or sit around and contemplate the profundity of their sparse lyrics. Or both!

And, best of all, they remain totally recognisable, every track. Simply because singer Chris Reed NEVER turned off his thick West Yorkshire accent on stage or in the studio.

And that gives everything the Lorrys did a very special edge. Same effect as Dylan, Tom Waits & Rod Stewart in their respective spheres.

Just a shame The Lorrys' record sales didn't reach those levels, then. But you can still enjoy them, so what are you waiting for?

Much overlooked and much under hyped, being an old goth this really was music to my ear's.
"Only dreaming" and "you are every thing" are instantly recognisable as should have been no 1 hit's.If like me youve never heard a beat of the "lorries" do you yourself a favour,ADD IT TO your collection and make yourself proud, not for owning a cd by a wierd sounding band, but for owning a piece of history that will never again be repeated, this if you buy it will allways remain a favourite

The Lorries were and still are very much underrated, which is criminal as they were at the forefront of the UK Goth scene. Performing in the shadows of the likes of Sisters of Mercy, Fields of Nephilim and the Mission to name but a few, they built up a loyal following and released many albums. This 'best of' album is a great introduction into the unique beat and vocals of this great band from Leeds. Apart from a hiatus from the mid 90's to early 00's they have been around for 25 years. Experience real goth music, you won't be disappointed.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Remebered them from the Peel show in the 80s & decided to buy
