She is just amazing. This is one of her earlier albums and i got most of them, her voice is just beautiful. 'It's my time' and 'There you are' are two of my favourite songs on this album, love them and I love her.

#1 HALL OF FAMETOP 100 REVIEWERon 22 June 2005
I became a fan of Martina's music following the release of her very first album. It wasn't a huge success but subsequent albums generated ever-bigger sales as the public realized what a great singer Martina is. With this album of pop music, Martina almost abandoned her country roots (they show here and there) and was rewarded with a major American pop hit (I love you, which also spent a month at number one on the country charts), giving her plenty of new fans while retaining many of the fans that she already had. I don't mind what kind of music people record as long as the quality is there and this is definitely a quality album.
The outstanding song (to my ears) is a country song - This uncivil war, written by Gretchen Peters about a family suffering hard times. Gretchen has written many great songs, not only for Martina (including her breakthrough song Independence day) but also for Trisha Yearwood and many others, as well as recording three of her own albums. Another excellent song, written by country tunesmiths Matraca Berg and Randy Scruggs, is Anything's better than feeling the blues.
There are plenty of other great songs here, especially among the ballads. My favourites include I love you, Love's the only house, Anything and everything and For the love of a woman.
Martina is a class act who proved with this album that she can sing pop music as well as country music. This is not my favorite among her albums (that honor goes to Wild angels) but if you love Martina's voice, you will probably enjoy this album.

Martina always picks songs with so much depth and emotion, that really touches the listener and that's really what country music is all about!! Songs that people can relate to and she definately does it on this album.
Such as the female - empowering hit It's My Time to the beautiful ballad From The Ashes(about putting the past behind you)Plus the gorgeous Patty Griffin penned song Good Bye and the simply fantastic socially conscious hit Love's The Only House this is without a doubt the standout on this album. There's also her big hit I Love You,this catchy uptempo was no.1 for 6 weeks!
She wraps up the album with 2 deeply touching ballads-The Uncivil War(about the effect divorce has on a family)to the beautiful For The Love Of A Woman(about a man devoted to the woman he loves)so sweet.
You can never go wrong with a Martina McBride album, she never disappoints. So let yourself be drawn into the world of this amazing singer...

Martina Mcbride and her producer do a fabulous job of choosing each song for each album. With "Emotion" once again that selection has been A+! Gretchen Peters is a soul searching song writer and once again Martina Mcbride has sung another Gretchen Peters's song, "This Uncivil War", with her whole heart. Ironically there is another Peters name on this album. That being Staci Peters who has written a song with Tyler Castleton that has beautifully captured what a man will do for the woman in his life. "For the Love of a Woman" has taken hold of my heart! Once again Martina's voice along with her great feeling for the words and message of each song bring to life this album of various emotions. "Emotion" as a whole & complete album connects from one song to the other. I say another excellent job done by Martina McBride!

Although I'm a great Martina fan I thought this CD was one of her poorer releases. all the songs were very similar and lacked the usual mix you normally get on Martina's CDs.
