Written and sung by half of the cult duo They Might be Giants, this solo release could easily be a new release from that band. Each song takes its title and inspiration from the name of a US state. At their best, they're quirky, funny and hyper-catchy (like "Montana", "South Carolina" and "Maine"), but slightly too often they're a bit pounding and school orchestra-ish (such as "New Hampshire" and "Oregon"). Nevertheless, it's a bright and original treat for lovers of the offbeat.
