This is the best of several recordings currently available (off the top of my head the others are: Crystal Bells, Strollin', Live in Bologna, and Disc two of The Sesjun Radio Shows) by what is, for my money, the best regular band Baker led in any period of his career. Emotional, intelligent and technically accomplished music. Surely one of the best jazz albums of the 80's.
This is about the best of Chet Baker's late recordings. The tracks are mainly standards and he works well with this trio format - without piano or drums. I'm not a big fan of Chet's singing but it is surprisingly good when he sings on 2 tracks on this cd. His trumpet playing is about as good as it gets and the support, especially from Philip Catherine on guitar, is first class.
