One of the few records I don't think I will ever get bored with. There is just too much here. Fast, slow, epic, quiet, wonderful tunes and bits of sheer noise. Best Cardiacs album. One of the best rock/pop albums I have ever heard and actually one of the greatest pieces of music of ANY genre in my collection.
So how come you have never heard of them???

This was my first introduction to the band. On the strength of this I saw them 6 times in concert all over the UK. Strong guitar breaks on "Duck and Roger the Horse", and the toe-tappiness of "Leader of the Starry Skies" juxtaposed with the all out weirdness of "Horsehead" and "The Safety Bowl" make this something different for those looking to escape the bottomless blandness of the main stream.

Having read through the other reviews I just wanted to add a couple of extra tidbits.
My stand out track on this album is Buds and Spawn, a wonderful epic of a song with a great sing along ending. Other stand outs are; the single baby heart dirt, an oddity with heart, the duck and roger the horse probably the oddest song on the album but a firm fan favourite and Arnald, great one to dance along to.
This is one of the must haves for Cardiacs fans, a great introductory album (along with songs for ships and irons) and easier to enjoy than the more elaborate (though more strongly loved by most) sing to god I & II.
