TOP 1000 REVIEWERon 12 March 2016
Lovely 20 track compilation featuring virtually all the duo's classic recordings including 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'The Boxer', 'The Sound Of Silence', 'Homeward Bound', 'Mrs Robinson', 'I Am A Rock', 'Scarborough Fair/Canticle' and 'America'. With a running time of just under 60 minutes it would have been possible to squeeze a couple more little gems on this collection with the likes of 'The Only Living Boy In New York' and 'Keep The Customer Satisfied' uppermost in my mind, but otherwise this album really does cover most of the bases really well and is well worth investing in.

Great album, really nostalgic yet my young granddaughter loves it too.
Paul Simon is the best song writer, genius.
Spans all the generations.

The sound of my early and late 20's - superb! The tracks were personally selected by Art Garfunkel, and I was delighted to hear the less well known tracks, "Wednesday Morning, 3 am", "Kathy's Song", "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her", "Seven O'clock News", "At The Zoo", "Old Friends". A great collection! It should have included "Seven O'clock News/Silent Night" and "A Hazy Shade of Winter" as well!

Recently bought 2 copies of this for christmas presents for people I know will appreciate it.Simon and Garfunkel were part
of the soundtrack to my childhood and youth.I hardly ever listen to this music nowadays but might if & when the fancy takes me.Just a few quick thoughts on the music:

Comes from a time when the bar was set much higher than today in terms of what was expected and what to expect from artists.

When the best artists all had their own sound and didnt sound like everyone else.

Quality songs that mean(t) something.

Music that was made to last and continually finds new devotees.

Their music sounds as fresh and moving now as it did when I first heard them. All the well known songs are there as well as some less known but heart wrenchingly beautiful ones. The minute they started to sing I was a girl again - back when I was someone's true love :0) If you've never heard S&G they are folksy/modern and you can hear every beautifully sung word. Every song has a story line, no bad language and lots of innocence as well as the odd sad tale.

Considering the age of this compilation, the sound quality is excellent and does just to a great collection of songs. True, there are some notable absentees but on the flip side of the coin, there are fantastic live versions of "Kathys Song" and "For Emily Whenever I May Find Her" that are a jaw-droppingly stunning exhibition of how a song can be both sweetly melodic and yet incredibly powerful.
This is far and away one of the best compilations I own and by any artist -if you are a fan, you need this! And if you are new to Simon and Garfunkel, this is a truly ideal place to start. Get it today - you won't regret it.
