When classical artists go all jazzy, it can all go a bit wrong, can't it? But if you can put aside the requirement that watever is "jazzy" has to be actual jazz, i.e. improvised, then something like this album, can be itself; and, approached without prejudice, it is fun, witty, exciting, propulsive and colourful in he Labeques' traditional manner. Katia went on to experiment even more extensively in jazz, with her then partner John McLaughlin, before returning more recently to central classical repertoire with Marielle. This was part of that journey...Go on, just gve in and enjoy it!
