Terse Rypdal is a genius, this is a brilliant album. As other reviewers here have pointed out some, so called, professional reviewers have scored this album very poorly. This is the same problem Miles Davis had with jazz journalists around the time of Bitch Brew, this is not that narrow "jazz" approved by the links of Stamley Crouch and Wynton Marsalis it is genuinely progressive jazz fusion. The other musical genres that Rypdal draws on are many and various. Chaser lead to other albums under the Chaser group title and it is a great period in a great career.

Like many things in life I try to approach new music ignoring the people who want to create a negative preconception. Even when the music is more disposable pop it it good to approach it expecting some merit. Here I was treated to a fantastic artist making great music. Even if it is not the kind of thing that you normally listen to, the quality and truth of the music shines through.

This is Rypdal's most rock albums I have heard, I prefer his other albums like The Singles Collection, Blue, If Mountains Could Sing, Skywards...
