This exceeded my expectations, after the heavy synthesised previous efforts Rupert's gone more conservative with his approach here with harder drums, guitars and percussion. It's a long album but there are many great tracks, my favourites being 'Thursday's Child' and 'Heart of the Matter'.
In Hine's works this stands after the classic solo trilogy: Immunity/Waving Not Drowning/The Wildest Wish to Fly and after the Thinkman trial balloons: The Formula/Life is a Full Time Occupation/Hard Hat Zone.
This may not be his best record but it sure is the most accessible and the most memorable. Hine didn't write the lyrics himself on this one and this might very well explain why there's some hope in them!
My preferred tracks: "The Shallow End" and "You Can't Be Chased."
