Music taken from Channel 4's TV series 'The Trip', which consisted of recently released archive space mission footage VJ'd to bizarre, experimental, and often mind-blowingly good tunes. The compilation covers an impressive range of styles, and has some truly blinding tracks ('Leaving Planet Earth', in particaular, is stunning), and ranks as possibly the best down-tempo compilation in my CD collection.
When I first heard about this record I was just beginning my descent into the Crowley universe of magick and other occult readings. It is as the title hints, a reading by Crowley himself, but although it is digitally mastered afterwards there is still the crisp sound of the old gramophone he used recording it. But that only increases its potential to my mind; making it sound old and mysterious and evil as it surely was intended. Crowley's voice on it gives me the distinct impression of an evil madness and infuses respect, in no way dissapointing compared to the symbol he represented: the Beast itself.
