This album is a superb example of what is good in hip hop. Funky basslines, excellent samples and instrumentation coupled with Michael Franti's politically aware lyrics and relaxed vocal style make for an excellent listen. My favourite tune is Gas Gauge (World in your hands), with excellent female vocals floating behind Franti's characteristic laid back drawl.
Check out "Home" their previous album for more of the same.

This is the most fresh and original recording I have heard in years. The mix of soul, Hiphop, Jazz and Funk really is something special and it is impossible to compare it to anything else around. This is the sort of album which appeals to people of all musical perswasions. All the tracks on the album offer something different. If you want something fresh and orignal then this is defantly worth checking out.

This is so dissapointing. Home is one of my favourite albums of all time and this just doesn't come even close. Franti's political ramblings have become so depressing that I can't even be bothered to listen to it. I wouldn't say that this was commercialized but it's like they have got so caught up in the politics of it all that they have forgotten what talented musicians they are. If you're going to buy a Spearhead album get Home it is far superior, upbeat and you are not constantly being lectured about the depressing misery that the band obviously have to deal with living in America.
