I heard this Album over 40 years ago, when I was a young girl.
I never forgot how wonderful it is.
How delighted I was to find it on 'Amazon'.

This was a lovely 12-track LP when it was released in 1964 but Columbia have done us proud in turning this into a 24-track CD with two tracks - Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley's `Once in a lifetime' and Tormé's own `Only the very young' - released for the first time. It's described as a `lust romantic album' and so it is, with orchestrations by Robert Mersey who conducts the accompaniments. `I've got you under my skin' really swings with Sinatra: here, it's up-tempo but much more mellow. `Do I love you because you're beautiful' was the only memorable tune from Rodgers and Hammerstein's only TV musical Cinderella. Kern's `The folks who live on the hill' is given a romantic rendition to rival that by Peggy Lee with the Nelson Riddle orchestra. The album ends with two more Tormé numbers, ideal for Christmastime: `One little snowflake' and `The Christmas song'. A thoroughly recommendable album.

This is a wonderful album. Although Mel Torme was devoted to jazz he left us these great performances ballads. With a fine orchestration and sound phenomenal. Ideal for smooth music lover. And remember that is not the usually heard Torme.
