the boys are evolving and this is where it all seems to begin as the basslines start to get bolstered with guitar riffs and the much more prominant use of sampled strings to form the melodies starts to kick in. the raps are still there and at the high end of quality, the humour is starting to kick back in again witness Dr.Greenthumb (awesome song) and the boys sound vital again not paranoid not overwhelmed but enjoying the game. probably helps that this album was recorded with the fresh return of sen dog and b-real had got the last of his issues out of the way on the psycho realm project (well worth checking out too) and they could all return to their day jobs.
This lp is amazing if your into real hiphop beats and dont mind loops cos you listen to the rhymes buy it now. Orthough it is kinda hard to understand what one of the rappers going on about this is still a classic and is deffently one of the top 100 hiphop lps ever if you aint herd it yet what have you ben doing? buy it cos you wont be dissapointed everyone iv ever known loves the track dr greenthumb check it out!
A full 74mins of the hill making this my best cypress albumn yet. I am yet to think of a track i dislike yet. Highlights include the masterpieces Dr Greenthumb and Tequila Sunrise. I must have for any Cypress Hill Fan.
This is definitely their best in a long time, almost as good as their first album. The opening track, Through The Eye Of A Pig, is extremely dark and powerful and will hook you on the first listening. The album is lyrically excellent with plenty of smooth sounds and hard licks. As usual it's blatantly Cypress Hill - it's all original and not the same old same-old that seems to flood the hip-hop charts. If you only have one Cypress Hill album (and I hope it's the first one!) you'd be a fool not to own this one as well!
Great rappin and backbeats from one of the gratest hip-hop bands ever. Cheakmate and Lightening Strikes are the very best. Also Tequila Sunrise, From The Window of my Room, Riot Starter and most of the others are great. All hip-hop fans should love it well worth the trouble to find!
Probably the only truly successful Cypress Hill album. Unlike their previous albums, this one will appeal to the listener first time (the others took time to grow on you).It contains, arguably, some of the best rap songs ever made such as Tequila Sunrise (instantly catchy spanish guitar with an excellent bass and drum riff), Checkmate (much speedier than any track they've done before with a very well done thudding of pianos) and Prelude to a Come Up (a lazy beat and bass topped with a moody piano melody). Get this album if you are a new listener of Cypress Hill or a fan.
