Funk aficionados should be familiar with Scottish DJ Keb Darge's series compiling rare vinyl from the 60s and 70s. These twenty tracks provide a consistent deep vibe, mixing instrumental hammond and wah wah grooves and old school vocals. In the spirit of James Brown, the emphasis is always on the "one" - perhaps making for the one minor criticism -- homogeneous rhythm. Nonetheless, Darge's series puts most major label compilations of commercial artists to shame, as there is no filler here, just the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk, good God.
