If you love that mean and dirty, edge of distortion blues sound then this album is for you. O.K. being a long standing fan of the man and his band, I have not taken “John Henry Jumps In” their previous album out of my CD changer for the past two years, but this is a worthy successor. Chad Strentz’s songs brilliantly capture the mood and the moment as can be heard on Forever Blue and Can’t do right. Shortly after this, Chad took a sabbatical in 1999, and I am glad he has returned and brought that great blues voice back into the band. This album also has some great works by the guitar Slinger himself – Mr Johnny Whitehall, sadly no longer with the band. The Blue Album really does capture the essence of time and place – Paul Lamb and The Kingsnakes in one of their finest blues line-ups. (And it also contains the only song I've ever heard about the Millennium Bug!). Put this on your CD and you’ll be whoopin' and hollerin' all night long!
