I just can't believe that compilations like these produced by the unbeatable ACE records still lack of any review. That's why I want to react because ACE deserves it. This 2nd album of the series of Teenage Crush was released in 1999 and today we are in 2008 and no one has written anything. Those familiar with my reviews of the 1st and 5th volumes of these series know how wonderful these CD's are and Vol 2 is no exemption to that. It holds several # 1 and # 2 of the American Billboard between '57 and '63. It holds some hits that could never be found anywhere else like "Dear One" by Larry Finnegan, Connie Stevens' "Sixteen Reasons"; "The Three Bells" by the Browns etc.etc. Collections like these holding 28 Top 30 Hits cannot be overlooked!
Today there's a giant industry for Golden Oldies which usually concentrate on the 50s and 60s and this new Ace series falls well into that using the Hot 100 as the Bible. There's equally a giant industry for all those who never even bubbled under but of music just like what's here. Series like Teen Dreams run into 30 volumes all concentrating of musical failure for which there's obviously a market. And bear in mind the number of artists represented in this series were total unknowns at one time. In the 60s and 70s a few budget labels issued the recordings made by future hitmakers like Gene Pitney,Neil Sedaka,Johnny Rivers,Lou Christie with no info and left it at that.Today you have labels like Ace and Bear Family who treat them with more respect
