Every bit as good as I had anticipated. Good value, recommended. More people should discover this man.

No serious musicolologist can be without at least SOME of the fascinating works of this drunken youngest son of the great J.S. Bach.
This anthology is a good place to start, as it affords a selection of pieces from the various discs, illustrating the extraordinarily prescient eclecticism of P.D.Q.s musical talent.
The 1712 Overture, for example, is absolutely revelatory.
Serious music lovers must be grateful to Professor Shickele for his vital part in the (often commissioned) discovery of these works of a forgotten genius.
The quality of Telarc's recorded sound is - all joking apart - truly excellent.
It should be noted that there is (or was) also a scholarly biography available, in book form - "The Definitive Biography of P.D.Q. Bach", Random House, ISBN 0-394-73409-2
Please buy and enjoy.

Fantastic! Wonderfully funny! - even the sleeve notes are side splittingly funny! The music is tremendous, superbly orchestrated and funny. I laughed out loud at the lyrics (Oedipus Tex is sublime as is Classical Rap!) The singing is done with gusto and deep mock seriousness! A first rate CD. A life-enhancing treat of hilarity and wit.
If you love classical music and have a sense of humour you will love this. I am delighted to find that there are other PDQ Bach albums of which this is an anthology. I will be budgeting to buy the others!
This is an entirely unsolicited review though if Professor Schickele should read it and wish to send me all his CDs in gratitude I would be delighted and extremely grateful!
