It is high time there was a review posted for this excellent album. Jarrett is of course revered and often reviled for his piano work, grunting and often pretentious album notes. There isnt much of any of those things to get worked up about here. Love him or hate him but one thing is obvious - he is a bit special. This album features almost no piano playing but reveals Keith to be a master musician. Recorded in his home studio, it features him on percussion and a whole variety of but mostly ethnic wooden instruments. It could be viewed as World Music Lite but as it almost certainly predated the explosion of world music in the collective concious of the western record buying public - it shows Jarrett to be ahead of the game. Personally, I think this album is one of his finest and has a bit of magic about it. If you dont like recorders, flutes and percussion, then this isnt going to be for you but for me it melds a Western Melodic sense to Eastern music and for that reason is unique.
