]Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet

Italian Conductor/Composer Nino Rota provides the energetic and romantic soundtrack for this brilliant movie from Director, Franco Zeffirelli.

This CD contains the main musical themes from the movie and weaves in some of the major spoken lines from this Shakespearean masterpiece.
The two young lead actors, Leonard Whiting (Romeo) and Olivia Hussey (Juliet) are joined by the late great Robert Stephens as ( The Prince) and Milo O'Shea as ( Friar Laurence) in bringing to life the words and music from some of the most moving scenes of the film.

Some people may prefer to purchase the film which is still available on DVD but for those already familiar with the story of the two ill-fated teenagers the CD is a good memento, well worth the money.

This album is a must for anyone who has been or is a fan of DJ Simon Bates' "Our Tune". The "Our Tune" theme reoccurs throughout the recording and is indeed a theme of the music. There are, however, several other notable tracks, such as "The Death of Mercurio and Tybalt" and "The Ride from Mantua". I would thoroughly recommend this recording to any 40-something classical fan.
