This was the very first Heaven 17 album I bought and I love it and still play it regularly to this very day.
I suppose it's understandable why most hardcore fans don't really like it - Yeah ok,it contains not much in the way of synth & uses a lot of real live instruments and session players..at the time it was an enormous departure from the previous "electronic" sounds of the first 3 albums but for me Pleasure One still contains some of Heaven 17's catchiest and coolest tracks to date.
Contenders,Trouble,Somebody,If I were You,Low Society,Red,Look At Me,Move Out & Free..9 totally underrated tracks and I for one can't pick a bad one out of the lot of them.
What with Heaven 17's recent re-surge in popularity, hopefully this album will be given the full-on re-issue/digital remastering/extra tracks treatment it fully deserves.

After 3 superb albums and a two year break H17 returned to fold after the excellent How Men Are with this rather ordinary album. With only the singles, Trouble and Contenders, managing to russle up anything like a pulse the rest of the album is like listening to beige. Nothing jumps out, the sound is super smooth (would you expect anything less) and pretty much marked the beginning of the end for the band in terms of commercial success. Shame really, by the time they went back to their electronic roots in Bigger Than America, nobody cared, me included.
