I was lucky enough to see the Sheepdogs in Canada last July on my annual visit to the Ottawa Bluesfest. Blending hints of Skynyrd, Allman Bros, the Outlaws, Black Keys, Dickie Betts and many, many more, here's a band that should tick all the boxes for lovers of Americana stretching back to the 70's.Apart from hearing just one track before selecting this band as a must see at this years festival I was impressed by the volume of the crowd, the appreciation of the younger concert goers and their knowlege of the set list. Why don't we hear this kind of music in the UK?
It waas clear that The Sheepdogs have been together for a long time with a collection of brilliant musicians. I now own all their albums and hopefully will see them again soon. Perhaps good rock will never die!!
This group are going to be big. they sound like a seventies rock band but they are a new 21st century outfit , play the CD and listen you hear the Allmans, Neil Young, Rival sons, the more you play the more you hear this band come highly recommended.
Caught a track on a sampler CD and tried the album on the back of that. Good rock blues. I need to learn more about the band but the comparisons made in other reviews with other bands is valid. Whenever a track comes up on my ipods shuffle it always catches my attention.
