For anyone wanting to know a little more about this fantastic album...
Too Dark Park is undoubtedly Puppy's masterpiece. A heady cocktail of industrial beats and synths mixed with violent vocals and for the most part incomprehensible lyrics build and build to a manic, screaming climax that makes this possibly one of the most intense albums ever made, in this genre or any other. I have heard it described as heavy but I believe this to be misleading - TDP does not display any of the 'metal' qualities now associated with industrial music; rather it relies on the claustrophobic atmosphere and spooky samples (see Nature's Revenge) to create a record that is much more taxing than any metal album I have ever heard.
Whilst the stand-out track is definitely Spasmolytic, every song will strike its own brand of fear into your heart and despite being short this CD can be quite hard to stick with to the end. However if you do so, it is incredibly rewarding, and you can be safe in the knowledge that you have witnessed a milestone in electronic rock. I can guarantee you've never heard anything like it - a truly innovative work of art.
Maybe I am biased, but I honestly have nothing negative to say! A gem for seasoned fans and those new to Skinny Puppy alike. Highly, highly recommended.
