I haven't heard any other interpretations of the Nocturnes or the Preludes, except those on a recent BBC concert recording, so I have little else by way of direct comparison. But this set of '60s recordings is truly remarkable. The sensitivity and technique of the pianist is wonderful, even before considering the beauty and complexity of the composer's music. The only slight drawback of these recordings is the very slight hiss from the original tapes, but it is by no means obtrusive. My recommendation - buy this album. At the market-place price, this will be one of the best CD buys ever.
