This performance of Beethoven's violin concerto is great - genuinely sublime in fact. Oistrakh is really something. Like Gilels and Solomon playing Beethoven, all the beauty and grace comes directly through his technical mastery, and I guess, his honesty. Never overstated, never understated, the music just sings. There is another great Oistrakh recording, with Cluytens conducting.
