Hello, world. I'm a Mallrats fan as well. It's ok. Don;t feel bad. Don't be ashamed. We all know that Chasing Amy was a way better film and Clerks had way more indie edge, but it's ok to like Mallrats too. Come on, even if you didn't get to see the sailboat, you can't deny that this soundtrack album, full of 90s alt rock gems and dialogue samples, is a delight for fans of the golden age of the View Askewniverse.
This Soundtrack is not only jampacked with seriously cool hardcore/indie pop tunes, but is laced with some of the wittiest lines from modern cinema. Classics such as the Kryptonite Condoms gives us a lucid insight into the mind of die meister Kevin Smith: deep ponderings on Superhero sex, cheap drugs and cheaper women. A must for all fans of the "tubby human brown-eye" as J Mewes once said.
I bought this album pretty much only to hear "social" by squirtgun and "susanne" by weezer. But there is a whole lot more to hear, all of them good songs. The soundtrack ties in with the film beautifully with quotes (hilarious). I especially like the tale of "cousin Walter's aeroplane flight". Vital for fans of indie music and Kevin Smith in general.
