These songs come from Elvis' recordings at Sun, the fabled label out of Memphis, that also first recorded Carl Perkins, Johnnie Cash, and other bright lights on the early R&B scene. The CD also happens to have some of the best stuff he ever recorded - raw and uninhibited and oh so very new at the time. If you haven't heard "Milkcow Blues Boogie" or "That's All Right" or "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone" then you don't know R&B and you don't know Elvis. When these songs were first recorded, Elvis was not only not yet the King, he wasn't even a known factor on the music scene. But he was defintely on his way to becoming the Prince of Wails and not long after that the bonifide King for all time. Long live the King! If you have any interest in the history of the popular music scene, the cd is an absolute must.
