'Miracles' is the kind of Christmas album that is perfect for the quieter moments of the festive season. An album of gentle, sensitively played timeless favourites, its the perfect addition to you, a sparkling Christmas tree full of lights, a glass of wine and a few reflective thoughts. Equally, its a lovely accompaniment for a dinner party or for that period after dinner when you and your guests are all lounging about talking quietly in the small hours.
Only the final track, 'Spring Breeze' slips the temp out of first gear and that's not anything near fast either. The rest of the renditions here feel intimate and rather like a loved one playing just for you. There are no gimmicky Christmas instruments, no cheesy vocals just honest, heart felt playing and the album is all the better for that.
Rather a lot of Kenny's faster stuff has a predictability about it that leaves me cold but this record really advertises the mans talent.
As I listen to this album I am transported to the magic of christmas. This is the best seasonal instrumental I have heard in recent years. If you want the spirit of christmas to permeate your home this year then this is the CD to buy!
Never heard of Kenny G until I recently received an email with him playing Brahms Lullaby. What a beautiful rendition. This Christmas Album is a must, if you like the sound of an alto sax: being played with such feeling.
