I'd heard of the Traveller but never actually heard the music. When this double CD came on Amazon in a used-like new condition for the grand sum total including post of £3.03, I thought nothing to lose. Very glad I took the chance, a great album of a very, very good tight band. The Drum/Bass players are brilliant and so so tight. Only slight downside for me was a bit too much blues harp at times and a horn section more often would have really made this album outstanding. Never the less an excellent album and if you can find it at the right price an essential purchase for blues fans.
This is their first live album and you can tell they enjoy what they're doing with the music. There's past work here like Gina and new stuff like New York prophesie with a mix of Jazz and Rock that again leaves you hot, rocking and you'll wanna go more!
I must admit I was really drawn to the group to start off with, especially having enjoyed their contribution to the Blues Brothers first film. I was tempted to buy their album, entitled "Four" and was impressed by the quality of the music. However, This live double-album was a bit of a disappointment and it doesn't improve with more listening. The harmonica playing is hellishly repetitive and it ends up sounding like all suck and blow! The vocals are certainly raw, but that's no compliment. Personally, I prefer them in the studio recordings.
