These recordings of the grounbreaking music that Black Flag became renowned for were all recorded without the aid of Henry Rollins; there are some who still, for some daft reason, believe that Henry WAS Black Flag.
BF were the nighmarish vision of one of the most underrated guitarists of the modern era - Greg Ginn, who, along with some other miscreants, added a new twist to the punk rock genre.
The tracks on offer here cover the turbulent years where vocalists came and went and, according the sleeve notes, anybody who jumped on stage would declare themselves the new singer for Black Flag.
Only 3 singers are featured here, and all have differing styles. They are all, however, underpinned by the frenzied, distortion laden, guitar work of Greg and a very impressive rhythm section (sorry forgot names)
The final track 'crass commercialism' features 'radio adverts' for BF Gigs, whether they are real or not is not relevant; they are very funny.
There are far too many stand out tracks to mention and as we all know all BF fans have their favourites.
This collection should be in every punk's home/ squat / campervan etc
