This book contains great insights on the Giant Panda that I wouldn't normally have come across. It certainly is a trove of information as it covers a wide range of topics such as the Panda's history and origins in China, its cultural background and even the names and locations of Pandas residing outside of China.
This information is accompanied by stunning photographs, splashed across each page. These photographs document the different stages of a Panda's life from pregnancy till adulthood through the seasons. While reading the book, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it also covered several other wildlife species in central China, which was a great plus.
Overall, this book gave an in depth look at the Giant Panda with great insights and great photographs to match. Definitely worth a read.
*Another 'feature' readers should note is that all proceeds go to WWF.
This beautiful book by Fanny Lai and Bjorn Olesen is a must have for all Panda and nature lovers. The book is full of the most stunning and rare close up photographs of the pandas, taken by an award winning wild life photographer and conservationist. This book is a wonderful read, giving an insight into the history and discovery of these beautiful animals and how they survive in their habitat. There is also a lovely section in the book on other endangered wild life in China. I also think it is wonderful that 100% of the authors' sales proceeds of this book are being donated to the WWF for wild life conservation.
If you like pandas, or just wildlife in general then this book is a must. Bjorn's photos really capture the wonder of these mysterious and endangered animals. The text is also informative yet accessible. The other great thing about this book is that 100% of the authors proceeds go directly to the WWF so you will be supporting Pandas and other animals just by purchasing it. This book would be suitable for older children or adults.
