This is not a text for the faint hearted. A true story, of breath-taking cruelty, injustice, perseverance and spirit, everyone should read this 'testimonio' and be amazed. Whether male or female, young or old, an aficionado of Latin-American socio-political issues, or just someone looking to be moved by a simply inspiring story, you could not find a more worth while way to invest your time. The text has been 'Castilian-ised' to make it an easier and less 'Quechua' experience, which does nothing to remove its inherent charm, but renders it a much easier read for the Spanish speaker or Spanish student. I came to it from an English background; don't be afraid, the beauty of this text is less in the artistry of the prose than in what you will feel for 'Domitila' and her people.
