The boss!..Kancho Kanazawa's karate is important to him, it is his life. He has studied long and hard, and thought about his art and has come to understand what its all about' and why things are what they are. Many things, that the average student takes for granted while practising their techniques there is reasons for it all. Sadly those reasons are being forgotten, even ignored. Kancho, with his studies in many martial styles and deep studies in Tai-chi has put an almost spiritual feel to his Karate with the incredible detail he puts into his explanations of style and technique. This book is there to skim over to top up your skills, or delve deep into the true art, skills and spirit of Karate. Anything Kanazawa explains, if you have any love of Karate must be studied. This book is an excellent way of doing just that.

This book is the first translation into English of Kanazawa Kancho's earlier work "Karate-Rokushukan de tsuyokunaru" It takes the Reader through what could be described as a course of lessons designed to improve both Basic and advanced techniques via a comprehensive narrative and pictorial series of steps. Utilising the talents of Kanazawa Kancho Himself and the Honbu Dojo Instructors of the SKIF, this book will Inform and enthrall any serious student of the Art of Traditional Karate.

After being away from Shotokan for almost 40 years and coming back to the sport of karate with my granddaughter Rebecca, I am completely blown away by all of the thorough and impressive coverage and detail to be gleaned on YouTube for example!
This includes demonstrations by many of the greatest exponents of karate in the world, one of the most outstanding being the living legend of Shotokan who is Hirokazu Kanazawa!
This book, like his other publications, is beautifully printed and the many photographs of routines, sets and katas are fairly easy to follow and reproduce, although I feel there is a definite need to "tweak" these routines by training with experienced instructors who will be more able to fine-tune your moves.
Overall, an excellent book ... well worth the price!

We have trained under Kanazawa when he would visit SKKIF in Blackpool, England and my daughter wanted to have the book. The pictures are very good and descriptive. Will recommend it for all Shotokan Karate aficionados. It is a good reference book for your bookshelf

Black belt karate is a series of very basic techniques, nothing like black belt training, more like green belt
