Not a lengthy review but just to say thi scompilation is amazing. If you are interested in (part of) the roots of Death Metal, then this is a must bar buying a whole load of demo's. There a re a lot of bands i hadn't heard until i bought this, one being Nirvana 2002, who a surely the best of those that didn't make it. I find all this stuff much better that the Florida scene, which sounds too clean. This is dirty buzzsaw punk influenced Death.Must buy the book now! All hail the mighty Swedes!

If you worship old, feral, (Swedish) death metal, this package is worth a lot more than the advertised price for the first disc alone. Disc 1 contains a lot of demo material from the scene's early days and you won't find much of it elsewhere. Disc 2 contains mainly album versions of tracks, but focusses on the early nineties classics and is worth owning, even if just as a decent compilation. Disc 3 contains more demo tracks from some of the more obscure bands and also from modern bands.

It is missing some crucial bands- the most obvious being Bathory, but who cares, just buy the discography!

This is a cracking compilation that will make heads bang. All hail Daniel Ekeroth for compiling this. Buy now! 15 quid?!
