After watching a notebook on cities and clothes i had a desire to see more of sander's work. The film has a base in which the subject (Yohji Yamamoto) and the film maker (Wim WEnders) had been inspired by the images of Sanders made me thing there has to be something. Most of Sanders book's are priced at a high level so this is a fantastic place to start the book is full of images i feel are at a high level. Within the book there are images that are of people whom changed the world and others that are expressing the working class of the time. The images are powerful as the subject makes the images powerful as well as the skills of Sanders photography. The book is well worth the buy and you will find you're self from time to time spending time admiring the work.
good but dry mini-synopsis of this master overviewer and recorder of the German people of his time...people new to August Sander should, after reading this, move on to fuller volumes of his work...a good "beginner's introduction".
