Bikeline books are invariably good. I have used them for several cycle tours and they indicate with a fair degree of accuracy the location of camp sites, cycle shops and accommodation as well as providing a potted history of the area being cycled through. I used this book for my Summer 2013 tour. I learned to totally trust the contents the hard way. The book warned against cycling out of Prague along the river bank in an understated way. I considered myself to be a competent cyclist but was unprepared for the shock of having to ride along a narrow path with a five to six metre drop into the river. I wish that I'd followed the hilly detour suggested by the book
A very detailed and superbly produced guide to an historic river-artery which will be indispensable to the cyclist (as was intended) but also invaluable to the river-borne sailor (as it proved for me).
Another excellent guide from the Bikeline series of cycle trails. The guide is very clear, and maps are well marked and the ring bindings mean it is easy to turn to the next section. On the Elbe there are a number of alternative routes on both sides of the river and the guide showed both with views on which was best. On the Elbe you pass through major cultural centres such as Prague, Dresden, Torgau, Wittenberg and Magdeburg so having the city maps and details about key sites is really helpful. After 10 days of cycling the guide was still in tact and in quite good condition which shows the quality of the materials.
